Cross Country Road Trip (for CHEAP)

In 2016 we went on our first big expedition to move across the country from South Carolina to Salt Lake City, Utah. We spent most of our savings on this move and the trip needed to be as inexpensive as humanly possible (while still making epic videos).

We mapped out everything in as much detail as we were able to with details like where we could stop at a dog park to give our dog, Kouper, a chance to exercise before being stuck in a car for 8 hours.

We kept the entire game plan in Apple Notes.

We packed a cooler with Breakfast stuff (cereal), Lunch stuff (sandwiches/fruit), and for Dinner we would eat a solid meal at Chipotle.

Every place we stayed was epic except for the Motel 6 in Denver. That one was pretty sketchy.

The total cost for the trip was right around $500. The real kicker was moving all our belongings across the country. For this we used a Uhaul Box and got creative with stuffing it to the brim. The Uhaul box ended up costing us about $2,700 to use and ship from SC to UT. We decided to go this route for a number of reasons but the most notable one being the fact that neither one of us are handy so if the Uhaul exploded in the middle of Kansas we’d definitely be screwed. So if you’re anything like us and are more creative than you are handy, definitely go this route.

✨Breakdown ✨
